Getting started

What do I need to start?

An email address and your photos. Everything else you add as you go — nothing has to be ready before you start, and Shushko shows you what comes next.

How long before my website is live?

Minutes, if your photos are ready. You can build it yourself, or let Shushko put a first version together and change anything you want before guests see it. e can also show you how on a video call. Every plan includes one.

Do I need tech skills?

No. You do not need to write code or hire anyone. You click on anything you want to change, and change it — what you see is what your guests will see.

What happens to the bookings I already have?

You add the bookings you took by phone, message or email. About a minute each. Bookings from Airbnb, Booking.com and Vrbo appear on their own as soon as you connect the platform.

Do I need a card to start?

No. The trial does not ask for a card. If you decide not to continue, there is nothing to cancel.

Your website

Can guests book and pay on my website?

Yes. Your website shows only your free dates. The guest picks their dates, fills in their details and books, with no messages back and forth. You decide how they pay — by card on the website, by bank transfer, or in cash when they arrive. The booking appears in your calendar, and those dates close on every platform you have connected.

Do I have to approve each booking?

That is your choice. A booking can confirm on its own, or wait for you to accept it. If you ask for payment up front, no booking is confirmed until the money arrives. The dates are held from the moment the guest books, so nobody else can take them. If the booking is not confirmed in time, the dates open again.

Do I need hosting?

No. Your website runs on Shushko. Hosting and updates are included in your plan.

Can I use my own domain name?

Yes, from Pro up. You can register a new one or point a domain you already own at your Shushko website. Your first year is covered — see the plans.

Can I use Shushko with the website I already have?

Yes. You can put a Shushko booking form on it. Guests see your free dates and book there, and everything still arrives in your Shushko calendar.

What languages can my website be in?

More than 30. You only need one language. Shushko translates your website into the others. Someone booking from Germany sees your whole website in German.

Will my website work on a phone?

Yes. Most guests look at a rental on a phone. Everything works on a small screen, from the photos to the payment. There is nothing for you to set up.

Can I show reviews on my website?

Yes. You can add reviews you already have. Shushko can also ask new guests for a review after their stay. Nothing appears on your website until you approve it.

Can I add my own code?

Yes. Your website works without any code. If you know CSS, HTML or JavaScript, you can add your own code.

Money

Do you take a commission on my bookings?

No. You pay a fixed price for Shushko and nothing per booking, whatever that booking is worth. What a guest pays you is yours.

How do guests pay?

By card on your website, by bank transfer, or in cash when they arrive. You choose which of these you accept. For bank transfer and cash, you record the payment yourself when it arrives.

Do I need a Stripe account?

For card payments, yes. They go straight into your own Stripe account, which takes a few minutes to open. If you only take bank transfer or cash, you do not need one.

Does my money pass through Shushko?

No. Card payments go from the guest into your Stripe account. Bank transfers and cash come to you. We never hold your money, so there is nothing to wait for and nothing for us to release.

Can I add a cleaning fee?

Yes. You can add a cleaning fee or any other cost to a booking, and the guest sees it before they confirm.

Calendars

Which booking platforms can I connect?

Airbnb, Booking.com and Vrbo on every plan. From Pro up, you can connect any platform that gives you a calendar link (iCal) — see the plans.

What happens when a booking comes in on another platform?

Those dates close everywhere else you have connected, including on your own website. You do not have to go and block them by hand.

How do you stop double bookings?

Shushko connects your calendars. A booking on one closes those dates on all the others. Your own website is included. The platforms refresh every few hours, so there is a small gap. This is still much safer than blocking dates by hand.

Can I block dates myself?

Yes. Block any dates you want — for your own stay, for repairs, or for any other reason. Shushko blocks them on every platform you have connected.

Can I set my own prices and booking rules?

Yes. You can set prices for a single day or a range of dates. You can also set rules for how people book, such as the minimum and maximum stay, and how much notice you need.

Compliance

How do I know what I must report?

Shushko tells you what your property must report, and when. It shows which rules apply to you, such as the registry number you must display on your website. It warns you before each deadline, and again if a report is late. It gives you the exact numbers the form asks for, ready to copy in.

Does Shushko send my declarations for me?

No. You send them yourself. Shushko never sends anything to the authorities.

Which countries do you track compliance for?

The list is on our compliance page. We add a country only when we can track its rules and dates properly. If your country is not on the list, Shushko does not track it yet.

How do I collect my guests’ ID details?

You send the guest a link. They fill in their ID details online before they arrive, and those details are stored with the booking. The details stay with you.

Does Shushko work out the tourist tax?

Yes, for bookings on your own website. Shushko works out the amount and adds it to the booking. The guest sees it before they confirm.

Whose responsibility is it if something is late?

Yours. The law puts that duty on you, not on Shushko. Shushko changes one thing: you find out before the deadline, not after.

Your data

Where is my data kept?

On servers inside the European Union. That includes your bookings, your guests’ details and the ID information they fill in. You can read more on our Security and data page.

Who owns my guest data?

You do. Under GDPR you are the controller of your guests’ data. We process it on your instructions, and for nothing else. Our Data processing agreement sets out exactly what that means.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes. Your calendar can be exported at any time. For your bookings, your guests and your property details, ask us and we will send them to you.

What happens if I stop paying?

We remind you before your plan ends. If it does end, your website goes offline. Your own domain stays yours. Your bookings and your data are kept for 6 months, and everything comes back if you subscribe again. Money your guests already paid is in your own Stripe account, and it stays there.

Do you use my data for anything else?

No. We do not sell your data. We measure how Shushko is used — which screens, which features — so we can make it better. Your guests’ details are never part of that, and are never shared.

Ready to take bookings on your own website?

14 days free. No card required.
